AI Policy
Since Wilderzone.org exists within the creative media (game development and modding) space, we think it's important to have guidelines on when the use of AI tools is/isn't appropriate. All Wilderzone.org creations adhere to the following rules:
- AI tools must not be used to draft or create any creative works. This includes, but is not limited to: artwork, graphics, textures, models, maps, music, sound effects, video content, story content, wiki content, website copy, dialog, & voice lines.
- Specialized typically-non-generative AI tools (such as those used to perform image upscaling, background removal, stem splitting, etc) may be used so long as the tool does not impact the validity of the source content. For example, an AI background removal tool must only perform rotoscoping, not regenerate or "reimagine" the image's subject on a transparent background.
- AI tools may be used to assist with writing and debugging code. However, the output must be reviewed, tested, and signed off by a human before it is accepted.
- AI code contributions must be clearly visible, through commit messages, co-authorship, or other auditable means.
- Research materials generated by AI (eg, internet search results and summaries) must be validated by a human before informing any decisions.
- Use of any other AI tools not described hereinbefore must be documented in a suitably auditable format.
We welcome any feedback or corrections related to this policy or our operations in general. :)
